"But he (Jesus) said to them, 'I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other cities also; for I was sent for this purpose.'
How did you first become aware of the good news of the kingdom of God? Did you hear it proclaimed by a person, or did you read about it in the Bible?

I've almost always known - my parents began reading the bible to me when I was a newborn. When I was 4 I responded to an alter call at bible school. I'm still in the process of becoming saved (as I believe it's a lifelong journey), but the beginning of it all began almost as soon as I entered this world.
I'm about the same as Lydia. I'm not aware of a point I heard the good news, but it seemed to always be part of my experience. And I agree that becoming saved is a life-long journey.
I'd have to agree that "salvation" is more a process (eg, "work out your salvation") than an instant or moment in time, although many people do have that "deciding moment" experience and I do not want to discount that either. I suppose it is not either/or but both/and for many.
I was given religious training as a youngster but the notion of mystical experience took much longer to be grasped and sought after. And now the seeking just simply continues...I seem to alternate between thirst and stillness and am finally accepting it as part of my own personal journey.
